Classified Newspaper Ads:
When you place your newspaper ads, it’s important to mention your listing on the DreamsByOwner.com website. Doing so increases the effectiveness of your classified advertising dollars. When people are interested in your home from your ad, they will be able to immediately go to the website, type in your listing ID number to pull up 10 photos of your home, as well as see many details that cannot be listed in the limited ad space. These potential buyers will also be able to print a flyer of your home for sale, and save it for reference. This will pre-qualify potential buyers, and save you, the home seller, valuable time. We recommend your classified ads end with these two lines:
Search ID: D06XXXX

Your Online Listing and Flyers:
Your Flyers are automatically produced when you make your Dreams By Owner property listing. Remember that the first 5 photos in the upload area will be the ones used on the printable flyers, so upload the most important photos in the top 5 spots. Writing a long description may be tempting, but we recommend simply giving a brief overview of some major selling points for your home for sale. Writing lengthy descriptions can end up turning people away in many cases, so brief and to the point is key! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND listing all your contact info in the last portion of your description, making you easily accessible to interested home and real estate buyers.
After you make your listing, go to your listing on the website, and do a test print of your flyer. If it prints on two pages, you might want to shorten up your description area, and put some more details in the fields for particulars in your home. For example, if your master bedroom has a private bath, and whirlpool, you may want to place that info in the “Master Bedroom” field, and save the space in the description for other details not covered in the usual fields.
Added Exposure with Open House Announcements:
Included in your listing price, you are able to schedule and announce when you are having open houses. One of our recent customers, who just accepted an offer on her home, mentioned that she had several people go through her open houses who mentioned seeing her listing on the website. Every open house she had, she announced on the Dreams By Owner site, and she saw results from this service! So, make sure to take FULL advantage of your listing fee, and use all the tools available to you.
To schedule your open house, simply log into your account, and click on “My Listings.” This will show all the homes and properties you have listed on our site. Next, click on the house listing that you want to schedule the open house for. After this, you’ll see the Open House link on the top right corner of your screen. Click this link, and schedule away! Your open houses will immediately be listed on the Upcoming Open Houses page linked to directly from the home page. PLEASE NOTE: Make sure to delete your old open house listings, as it is not deleted when it expires. The expired open house dates will take up valuable room on your Printable Flyers.
Tell Others about Your Online Listing:
This last piece of advice might seem a little obvious, but sometimes the things that should be obvious, are the easiest to forget! When you help spread the word about the site, you’re increasing the exposure your home has. There may be that one prospective buyer who happens to lose your phone number, but remembers the website to find your listing, and thankfully finds your contact info. I know when my wife and I shopped for homes, we really liked particular houses, but then kept going through other homes for comparison. After a few weeks passed, we reflected back on houses we liked, and wanted to go through them again – the more ways to find that home seller, the BETTER!
